Website sketches

My six stage process.
Give or take.

From an initial chat over a coffee to discuss your ideas, to launching your new site and beyond, I will be with you at every stage of the web design process.

The Process

Although every project is unique, the process can be broken down into the following six stages that are broadly followed for each project. From an initial chat over a coffee to discuss your ideas, to launching your new site and beyond, I will be with you every step of the way.

1. Exploration and Discovery

...or "having a good chat"

Each new project should definitely start with hello, probably involve coffee, and maybe even include a good biscuit. No-one knows your business or your customers better than you do, and I want to learn as much as possible about both.

The process starts with gaining an understanding of your value proposition, identifying your customers and their needs, and establishing your goals. Equipped with this information I am able to form a strategy and implement the most appropriate solutions to ensure those goals are met.

2. Content Strategy and Keyword Research

...or "making a plan"

Great content is key to the success of any website. For that reason it is essential to take the time to create the most relevant and compelling content in order to maximise your target audience's engagement. This can be done in house, or with the help of a professional copywriter.

Using the content you provide, I will conduct an initial round of SEO keyword research, and apply the results to your site's content. This will help to give your business a genuine competitive advantage from day one.

3. Wireframing and Prototyping

...or "creating the blueprint"

Following on from initial discovery and strategy about your business, the next stage is to design some wireframe prototypes as mockups of the site.

These are designed to give you an idea of the proposed page structure of the site, as well as demonstrate typical narrative flows your visitors will be likely to take when visiting your site.

4. Design and Build

...or "bringing your site to life"

Subject to your approval of the supplied mockups, the next stage is to build out a high fidelity version of your site. This is when your site will really start to come to life.

This is largely a collaborative process involving continual review and revision towards a final version of your shiny new website.

5. Publish and Launch

...or "getting your business out there"

Although a close eye is kept on things during construction, everything is tested prior to launch to ensure everything looks just as as it should across multiple web browsers and on different devices with different sized screens.

Once I, and more importantly you, are happy that everything looks good your website will be ready to launch. And once it goes live you can set about promoting it and directing your customers to check it out.

6. Review and Refine

...or "dotting the i's and crossing the t's"

Things don't end once a new website is launched. 30 days of free support are included with each new project. This can be a useful time to iron out any minor issues with content or layout that become apparent after the site has gone live.

I can also give advice on ongoing SEO and digital marketing strategies, which are worth considering in order to maximise the ongoing benefit of your website.
